Colorblind in the dark
Colorblind in the dark
Red or green, flags unmarked
Mental notes for another day
I’d come back, to myself I say
Piling up, unawares
Overwhelmed with none to share
The feeling wrong but tucked away
Was called too sensitive too many days
So don’t be surprised if it takes many years
To come up for air admitting through tears
The realization I only just finally faced
The flag colors lit up to show their true place
The red ones so many to make me look dumb
An explosion of exploits still under their thumb
Slowly attached the puppeteer strings
The holes in my back, the daggers now wings
To carry me forward, my vision reinstated
To see in the light, an ability fated.
